Loss
I was crushed to learn December, January, and February of 2011 were lost in my photo collection. I was getting all mopy about it and then it hit me. It just meant I had to redo all those awesome hikes. This realization made me so happy.
I also am obsessed with spamming facebook with my photos after every hike so I at least have low resolution copies of the memories. :D Glass is half full my...

I am a manilla envelope ...
While growing up I thought I was like everyone else. I thought my family was like everyone else. I thought I had control over my personality. I thought I was defined by what music I liked and the smile I put on my face even when things were not that great.
When I went through my crash with depression I started to talk to therapists and psychologists. I found out I was not like everyone else. I...

The Camera I Use
Several people have asked what camera I use. I use a 8 year old Canon Rebel Digital SLR EOS camera. Most pictures taken over the 8 years were with a kit lens and I just recently upgraded it to a 18-55mm lens with a image stabilizer.
I have been taking photos since the age of 6 and have no formal training. I have been working hard on learning skills to make a photo pop such as lighting and...

What I have been up to
A friend from Chicago flew in and Thursday and Friday we took her on a whirlwind set of hikes to see multiple waterfalls in the Columbia Gorge and several beaches on the coast. I will be posting the photos over the next few days.
Another friend will be coming in on Monday from South Carolina. I am having a blast showing everyone all the fun sights here. It really is quite difficult picking what...

People and Corporations
Corporations are not people. Corporations cannot follow a religion. Corporations should not pretend they are mortally pure because that is a contradiction. Corporations should not have political sway. Corporations should only be concerned with putting out safe, healthy, humane, and environmentally responsible products for their customers. Corporations should not discriminate against people based...

Go with what works
The most important thing fighting depression has taught me is not to try to force anything that does not come easily. Fighting a major illness like depression puts a lot on your plate as it is. Being able to cope with stress is limited when dealing with this illness. After my mental crash the physiologist gave me the analogy that its like trying to drive from New York to California on an empty...
Short Break
